VP of Finance & Controller – Manufacturing

Precision Recruiting Solutions Group is partnering with a growing, Private Equity-backed manufacturing organization in the Rockford area seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations and serve as a key member of the leadership team.
This is a hands-on and high-visibility role with responsibilities for driving EBITDA through operational efficiencies, strong systems, disciplined financial close processes, and enhanced reporting visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Close
- Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, general ledger, fixed assets, inventory, job costing, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP, with a target monthly close of fewer than 10 business days.
Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Prepare financial statements, monthly reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and actual-to-budget/forecast analysis for leadership.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, long-range forecasting, and 13-week cash flow planning to support strategic decision-making.
Cost Accounting & Operations Support
- Manage inventory accounting, valuation, and job costing processes to ensure accurate costing and margin visibility.
- Partner with operations on production planning, supply chain, capital spending, and cost management initiatives.
Controls, Compliance & External Partners
- Maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and audit standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party financial partners.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while driving process improvements across the finance function.
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee property and casualty insurance renewals and coverage reviews.
- Support HR-related administrative matters such as workers’ compensation audits and benefit renewal activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 2+ years of direct leadership experience
- Strong GAAP expertise, financial reporting & analysis
- Manufacturing experience (inventory accounting & job costing required)
- Ability to drive process improvements and embrace lean manufacturing
- Advanced Excel skills with ERP/MRP experience
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA
- M&A Due Diligence, or Quality of Earnings exposure
- Power BI skills
